WHAT IT'S ALL ABOUT
Over the past 27 years, The Spirit of the Dragon Martial Arts and the Lil’ Dragons Student association have made it our goal to give back to our community as as much as possible.
Our “I Will Shine” program offers very affordable, but most often free, confidence building, fun and fitness programing to low income groups and families. Past groups we are honoured to have sponsored includes Mental Health Support groups, Low income Family Supports, Autism Support groups, Women self defence, Bully Defence programs, numerous school and youth groups, just to name a few.
We had planned to celebrate our 25th anniversary in 2020 by expanding our support for the community through the addition of the FUN ZONE. Unfortunately COVID had other plans. Our funds for this project were depleted in order to keep our day to day programs running.
Our lack of storage and gathering space leaves us with a limited number of groups we can sponsor. Our goal is to build the FUN ZONE which will allow us easy access to program equipment as well as space for our groups. This, in turn, will allow us to sponsor more groups throughout the year.
We are extremely excited to have partnered with the Regina Trades and Skills Centre to make the FUN ZONE happen. The RTSC is an amazing organization that provides free trades and skill training to qualifying individuals. A portion of their training involves completing building projects for non-profit organizations. They have gracioiusly offered to provide the labour and fund a portion of our material costs.
Unfortunately the material costs are still quite high and we are now asking for the support of our community and business owners. We have a variety of sponsorship options for those who would like to help make the FUN ZONE happen.

WHO IS REGINA TRADES AND SKILLS CENTRE
With good entry level skilled labourers being in demand due to retirements and labour shortages, the demand for new workers is growing. Yet, most employers don't have the time or resources to recruit or train new staff themselves. Programs at the larger technical institutes can be lengthy or financially out of reach. In the case of apprenticeship, a job in the trades is required before you can be indentured.
So, how do employers find qualified people and how do YOU get your boot in the door?
RTSC, of course!
The Regina Trades & Skills Centre was established as a not-for-profit with two main goals:
