In 2011 the United Nations declared October 11 as International Day of the Girl Child to focus attention on the challenges girls face and to promote girls’ empowerment and the fulfilment of their human rights.
In recognition of the Day of the Girl, we invite you to join us for a family orientated Stay Safe Session. geared towards the specific circumstances that girls and women are more likely to face than their male counterparts.
Girls are asked to attend with their parent or adult training partner to learn both verbal and physical skills to help keep them safe.
Date: Saturday, October 14
Ages 6-9: 3:00-4:00pm
Ages 10-13: 4:15-5:15pm
Cost: Free - but donations are gladly accepted.
Donations go towards self defence and confidence building programs for low income youth in our community.

- The importance of strong body language and verbal skills to exude confidence and deter possible assailants.
- Stand up defences & strikes to maintain distance and control & provide a safe exit.

- Understanding that they have the right to express their feelings if they are uncomfortable with a situation and expect to have those feelings respected.

Designed by women FOR women and taught by women. These skills are specifically designed for women to effectively applied against a larger, stronger assailant. Our head instructor for women's self defence has been training Martial Arts & self defence for over 30 years. Ms.Delesoy has trained all over the world including numerous Canadian and US training centres as well as Austrailia, England and Israel. She has competed for many years in both traditional Martial Arts and full contact Kickboxing competitions winning local, Provincial, National and world titles. She now focuses on learning, teaching and passing on this knowledge to our community.
